Recommendation 28 establishes a common code list for the identification of the type of means of transport in term of indication of maintenance status, mode of transportation, alphanumeric code, code name and code description. This Recommendation applies in cases where a coded representation is required to specify the type of means of transport. It is intended for use by commercial, administrative and regulatory parties concerned with the transport of goods and/or persons at national, regional and international levels. The codes defined herein may be used in manual and/or automated systems such as those that
support EDI and electronic business, for the exchange of information regarding the type of means of transport.
