ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA)
The Agreement Establishing the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) is an agreement between ASEAN Member States (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam), Australia and New Zealand. It contains 18 chapters, 4 annexes and one Protocol signed in August 2014. This Protocol has now entered into force for all AANZFTA Parties.
The agreement contains provisions on electronic authentication, digital certificates, and paperless trading. Specifically, each party shall work towards the implementation of initiatives which provide for the use of paperless trading and enhance acceptance of electronic versions of trade administration documents.
Chapter 10 of the agreement deals with electronic commerce.
