Australia-Chile Free Trade Agreement (ACI-FTA)
The Australia-Chile Free Trade Agreement (ACl-FTA) entered into force on March 6, 2009. The Agreement contains 23 chapters from goods, services and investment, 3 annexes, and 4 sides letters. As of January 1, 2015, tariffs on all current trade in goods will be eliminated.
The agreement includes provisions for paperless trading, with each Party committed to adopting methods endorsed by the World Customs Organization for initiatives facilitating paperless trading. Furthermore, both Parties aim to transition to electronic means for all Customs reporting requirements. Additionally, the agreement features a chapter on electronic commerce, mentioning that each Party shall endeavor to recognize electronic versions of trade administration documents from the other Party as legally equivalent to paper documents.
