Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP)
The objective of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement is to establish a modern, comprehensive, high-quality, and mutually beneficial economic partnership that will facilitate the expansion of regional trade and investment and contribute to global economic growth and development.
In chapter 12, articles 12.5 and 12.6, the RCEP agreement mentions that each party shall work towards implementing initiatives which provide for the use of paperless trading, endeavour to accept trade administration documents submitted electronically as the legal equivalent of the paper version of such trade administration documents, and endeavour to make trade administration documents available to the public in electronic form. Additionally, the RCEP mentions that no party shall deny the legal validity of a signature solely on the basis that the signature is in electronic form.
