Title
Multilateral e-AWB Agreement (IATA Resolution 672)
Dates of the instrument
Signature: 01 March 2013
Entry into force*: 01 April 2013
Summary
In order to increase the adoption of e-AWB (Electronic Air Waybill) by industry stakeholders to gain benefits of removing the paper AWB, it was agreed by the Cargo Committee and endorsed by the Cargo Services Conference at CSC/34 in March 2012 that a multilateral e-AWB agreement needs to be implemented. The Multilateral e-AWB Agreement establishes the legal framework for parties to conclude cargo contracts by electronic means. It includes provisions regarding the consent to use e-AWB, the operational aspects of e-AWB, the confidentiality and security of data, as well as the rights and obligations of the parties involved.
