Brief Summary
A pilot project on pre-arrival cargo data exchange was jointly launched by India and Maldives under the MoU signed between customs of both countries. It aims at enabling the electronic exchange of customs data for swifter EXIM clearance.

This project aims to reduce the time for customs clearance and discourage misdeclaration of trade and/or smuggling and to facilitate trade.

Electronic exchange of Customs data in a real-time basis between India and Maldives marks a major initiative by leveraging technology to facilitate trade between two countries and improve compliance.
